Berlin 2-Day Guide

Berlin is a city with a rich history, culture, and plenty of attractions. Here is a rough two-day tourist itinerary that will help you make the most of your time in this amazing city.

Day 1: History and Culture Morning

  • Brandenburg Gate: Start your day with one of Berlin's most famous symbols. This magnificent structure was built in the 18th century and serves as an important historical and cultural landmark.
  • Reichstag: The second stop is the German parliament building. Don't forget to reserve a ticket to visit the dome, which offers a breathtaking view of the city.

Midday

  • Holocaust Memorial: Located near the Brandenburg Gate, the memorial consists of 2711 concrete slabs, honoring those who perished during the Holocaust.
  • Visit the Fernsehturm at Alexanderplatz: This TV tower offers a panoramic view of the city. Alexanderplatz also has plenty of shops and cafes for relaxation and snacks.

Lunch

  • Lunch at Nikolaiviertel: This area is the oldest part of Berlin, with narrow streets and historic buildings. You will find many restaurants here to try traditional German dishes.

Evening

  • Museum Island: Visit one of the five museums on the island. For a first visit, the Pergamon Museum or the New Museum are recommended.
  • Unter den Linden: Take a stroll along one of Berlin's most famous streets, admiring the architecture and historic buildings.

Night

  • Dinner in the Mitte district: End the day with dinner at one of the restaurants in the Mitte district, offering a variety of cuisines from around the world.

Day 2: Modern Berlin and Alternative Culture Morning

  • Berlin Wall and Mauerpark: Start the morning by visiting the remnants of the Berlin Wall and East Side Gallery, part of the wall painted by artists from around the world.
  • Checkpoint Charlie: Historical point of intersection between East and West Berlin. There is also a museum dedicated to the history of the Berlin Wall.

Midday

  • Kreuzberg: This area is known for its alternative atmosphere, colorful graffiti, street food, and markets. Take a walk through it to feel the spirit of modern Berlin.

Lunch

  • Lunch in the Kreuzberg area: Find a cafe or restaurant in this area and enjoy local treats. For example, try the popular currywurst.

Evening

  • Tempelhofer Feld: Visit the former Tempelhof airport, now transformed into a huge park. A great place for a picnic, bike rides, or simply relaxing in nature.
  • Kulturbrauerei: End your evening at this cultural center located in an old brewery. Concerts, exhibitions, and other events are often held here.

Night

  • Dinner and nightlife in the Prenzlauer Berg district: Visit one of the cozy restaurants and bars in this trendy district. Here you can enjoy not only delicious food but also the atmosphere of night-time Berlin.
