Day 1: Morning:

  • Santa Maria del Fiore (Duomo): Start the day by visiting Florence's main cathedral. Admire its grand architecture and, if time allows, climb the dome for a panoramic view of the city.
  • Giotto's Campanile: Next to the Duomo is the bell tower, which also offers impressive views.
  • Baptistery of St. John: Don't miss these famous bronze doors, known as the "Gates of Paradise," and the interiors.

Day:

  • San Lorenzo Market and Medici Chapels: Visit the local market for shopping and snacks. Nearby are the Medici Chapels with their rich history.
  • Uffizi Gallery: Make sure to visit this museum to see works by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and many other Renaissance masters. It is recommended to book tickets in advance.

Evening:

  • Piazza della Signoria: Take a stroll around this historic square, surrounded by the Palazzo Vecchio and numerous open-air sculptures.
  • Dinner in the Santa Croce area: This area offers plenty of restaurants where you can try traditional Tuscan cuisine.

Day 2: Morning:

  • Accademia Gallery: Start your day with a visit to the famous David statue by Michelangelo.
  • San Marco Monastery: Visit this peaceful place where you can see frescoes by Fra Angelico.

Day:

  • Ponte Vecchio: Historical bridge over the Arno River, known for its jewelry shops.
  • Palazzo Pitti and Boboli Gardens: Explore the luxurious interiors of the palace, then stroll through the magnificent gardens with views of Florence.

Evening:

  • Piazzale Michelangelo: End the day with a breathtaking view of the sunset and the city skyline. It is one of the best spots for photography.
  • Dinner in Oltrarno: This quieter area offers cozy restaurants and a less touristy atmosphere.

Tips:

  • Be sure to book tickets to the main museums in advance to avoid lines.
  • Wear comfortable shoes, as most of the route involves walking on cobbled streets.
  • Don't forget to take coffee breaks – Florentine coffee is a must-try!
