Genoa, a charming city with a rich history, offers plenty of interesting places and activities. Here is a rough plan for two days in Genoa.

Day 1 Morning

  • Historical Center of Genoa (Centro Storico): Start by strolling through one of the largest historical centers in Europe. Here you will find narrow streets, beautiful squares, and plenty of ancient churches.
  • Palazzo Ducale: Visit Palazzo Ducale, the palace that was once the residence of the Doge of Genoa. Today, it is a cultural center with exhibitions and events.

Midday

  • Cathedral of San Lorenzo: This impressive cathedral is known for its Gothic architecture and black-and-white stripes on the façade. Inside, you can see many works of art.
  • "Genoese-style" dinner: Enjoy local cuisine by trying dishes like "trofie" pasta with pesto or farinata (a thin pie made of chickpea flour).

Evening

  • Genoa Aquarium (Acquario di Genova): One of the largest aquariums in Europe, perfect for an evening visit to relax and admire the marine life.

Day 2 Morning

  • Porto Antico: Walk through the recently renovated historic area, where you can see interesting architectural structures and visit museums like the Maritime Museum.
  • Bigo Panoramic Elevator: Take the elevator to enjoy panoramic views of the city and the coast.

Midday

  • Rolli Palaces: A UNESCO World Heritage site, consisting of a group of palaces used to host important guests. Some of them are open for visits.
  • Lunch in the Carignano district: Enjoy lunch in one of the local restaurants serving traditional Ligurian dishes.

Evening

  • Lift up to Spianata Castelletto: Take the elevator or walk up to the Spianata Castelletto viewpoint to enjoy a magnificent sunset view.
  • Dinner at a sea-view restaurant: End the day with dinner at one of the restaurants on the waterfront, savoring dishes from the sea and local wine.
