Graz 3-day Guide

Day 1: Historical Center and Cultural Attractions Morning:

  • Start your journey by visiting Schlossberg, a hill in the city center. Climb to the top to enjoy magnificent views of Graz. Among the main attractions on the hill is the Clock Tower (Uhrturm), a symbol of the city.
  • Descend and walk through the historic part of the city. Visit the Main Square (Hauptplatz) with its beautiful Renaissance and Baroque style buildings.

Day:

  • Visit the Graz Art Museum (Kunsthaus Graz), a modernist building resembling an alien object, where you can see works of contemporary art.
  • Across the river is Murinsel, an unusual artificial island that serves as a bridge and cultural space.

Evening:

  • Have dinner at one of the local restaurants in the Sporgasse district, where you can try traditional Styrian cuisine.

Day 2: Architecture and Parks Morning:

  • Visit the University of Graz, one of the oldest universities in Europe. Take a stroll through its beautiful campus.
  • Visit the Cathedral of St. Egidius (Grazer Dom) and the Mausoleum of Emperor Ferdinand II, both notable for their architecture and history.

Day:

  • Take a walk in the large Graz City Park (Grazer Stadtpark) to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
  • If you are interested in botany, visit the Botanical Garden of Graz University.

Evening:

  • Enjoy the evening at Dom im Berg, a concert venue inside Schlossberg mountain, where interesting musical events often take place.

Day 3: Castles and Surroundings Morning:

  • Start the day with a trip to Eggenberg Castle (Schloss Eggenberg), located on the outskirts of Graz. The castle is part of UNESCO and is known for its beautiful interiors and surrounding park.

Day:

  • Return to the city center and spend time shopping or visit local markets, such as the Farmers Market at Lendplatz, to immerse yourself in the local life.

Evening:

  • End your visit with dinner at a wine restaurant, where you can try Styrian wines - a region known for its winemaking traditions.

These three days will allow you to enjoy the diversity of cultural, historical, and natural attractions in Graz.
