Grenoble 2-Day Guide

Day 1: Morning:

  1. Fort de la Bastille: Start your day with a visit to the Bastille fortress, which can be reached by a funicular from the city center. From here, you'll have a stunning view of the entire Grenoble and the Alps. On a nice day, taking a walk along the tourist trails around the fortress will be a great way to start your day.

Day:

  1. Grenoble Museum (Musée de Grenoble): One of France's leading art museums, showcasing works from artists ranging from the Middle Ages to modern art. Spend a few hours enjoying the works of Rubens, Matisse, and Picasso.

Lunch:

  1. Restaurant on one of the squares: Place Saint-André or Place Grenette offer plenty of cafes and restaurants. Try traditional regional dishes such as gratin Dauphinois.

Evening:

  1. Walk through the Old Town (Vieille Ville): Explore the narrow streets and medieval architecture. Visit the Notre-Dame Cathedral and admire the stained glass windows, then browse the local shops and souvenir shops.

Day 2: Morning:

  1. Chartreuse Pass (Chartreuse): Take a tour or rent a car to visit the Chartreuse National Park. This natural reserve offers plenty of hiking trails and magnificent panoramic views.

Day:

  1. Vercors Bastion (Vercors): Another popular spot for a day trip. Known for its cliffs and World War II history. Bike tours or hiking excursions are possible.

Lunch:

  1. Picnic in nature: Bring sandwiches and enjoy lunch outdoors surrounded by nature.

Evening:

  1. Modern Center of Grenoble: Upon returning to the city, visit the Caserne de Bonne district. Here, you'll find modern shops, restaurants, and possibly evening events.

End your day at one of the local beer bars or bakeries, trying out local delicacies and drinks.
