Guide to Koblenz for 3 days

Koblenz is a picturesque city in Germany, located at the confluence of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. Here is a three-day tourist guide:

Day 1: Exploring the Historic Center and Surroundings

Morning:

  • German Corner (Deutsches Eck): Start your day with a walk to the "German Corner" where the Rhine and Moselle rivers meet. Admire the impressive monument to Kaiser Wilhelm I.
  • Festung Ehrenbreitstein (Ehrenbreitstein Fortress): Cross the Rhine to the other bank on a cable car. Explore the ancient fortress and enjoy the stunning view of the city and surroundings.

Day:

  • Old Town (Altstadt): Take a stroll through the narrow streets and visit the main attractions: Basilica of St. Castor, Florinskirche, and old market squares. Visit the Electoral Palace (Kurfürstliches Schloss) and walk through its beautiful gardens.
  • Town Hall and Görrendorf: Check out the old town hall (Rathaus). The famous Görrendorf is located on the town hall tower - a clock with a figure that sticks out its tongue every hour.
  • Lunch: I recommend having lunch at one of the cozy cafes or restaurants offering traditional German dishes.

Evening:

  • Rhine River Cruise: After lunch, take a short boat tour on the Rhine to see more scenic views.
  • Dinner: Try local cuisine at one of the restaurants on the banks of the Rhine or in the old town.

Day 2: Nature and Nearby Attractions

Morning:

  • Lahn Valley and Burg Lahneck: Visit the Lahn Valley to enjoy the natural beauty and visit the ancient Burg Lahneck castle.

Day:

  • Hiking Trail Stations (Oberwesel or Boppard): Take a ride along the Rhine Valley. Stop in one of the nearby towns such as Oberwesel or Boppard. Stroll through the vineyards and enjoy tasting local wines.

Evening:

  • Return to Koblenz and Dinner: Return to Koblenz and have dinner at one of the restaurants offering views of the Rhine.

Day 3: Museums and Cultural Attractions

Morning:

  • Landesmuseum Koblenz: Visit the Landes Museum in Ehrenbreitstein Fortress, which features exhibitions on the history, culture, and art of the region.
  • Ludwig Museum: This museum of modern art is located in an old Roman villa and offers interesting exhibitions.

Day:

  • Old Market (Alter Markt): Visit the old market. Warm up with coffee and pastries at a local cafe.
  • Liebfrauenkirche: Admire the architecture and interior of this medieval church.

Evening:

  • Riverside Walk and Dinner: Enjoy an evening stroll along the Rhine promenade and marvel at the city's evening lights. Enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants with a view of the river.

Useful Tips:

  • Most places in the city center are within walking distance, but a car or public transport may be needed to visit the surroundings.
  • There are plenty of restaurants in the city center offering both traditional German dishes and international cuisine.
  • If you plan to visit museums and attractions, it is recommended to buy tickets in advance to avoid long queues.

I hope this plan will help you have an unforgettable time in Koblenz!
