Lille is a charming city in northern France with a rich history and culture. Here is a rough two-day itinerary for you to enjoy the best sights of Lille:

Day 1: Historical center and culture Morning

  • Grand Place (Place du Général-de-Gaulle): Start your day with a visit to the city's main square. Here you will find majestic architecture and plenty of cafes.
  • Vieille Bourse (Old Stock Exchange): Next to Grand Place is the Old Stock Exchange. Be sure to go inside to admire the neo-Renaissance architecture and visit the second-hand book market.

  • Lille Citadel (Citadelle de Lille): Take a stroll around this 17th-century military fortification designed by Vauban. The Citadel is surrounded by a park - a great place for a walk.
  • Hospice Comtesse: This museum will tell you about life in medieval Lille. Here you can see ancient artifacts and interiors.

Evening

  • Dinner at a restaurant on Rue de Gand: This is one of the busiest streets with plenty of restaurants offering both traditional and modern dishes.
  • Beer bar: Lille is known for its beer traditions; the perfect place to try Belgian and local beer varieties.

Day 2: Art and modernity Morning

  • Paris Gate (Porte de Paris): Start your day by exploring this triumphal arch.
  • City Hall and its belfry (Beffroi de Lille): Climb to the viewing platform for a panoramic view of the city.

  • Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille: One of the largest museums in France outside of Paris, featuring works by European masters including Rubens and Goya.
