Naples 2-day Guide

Naples is a city with a rich history, culture, and cuisine. Here is a rough two-day plan so you can make the most of your time in this amazing place.

Day 1: Historical Center and Culture

Morning:

  • Breakfast at a cafe: Start your day with a cup of authentic Neapolitan espresso and sfogliatella, a local pastry. Try this at one of the historical cafes, such as Caffè Gambrinus.
  • Piazza del Plebiscito: Visit one of Naples' most famous squares, where you'll find the Royal Palace and the church of San Francesco di Paola.
  • Royal Palace of Naples: Explore the rich history and interiors of this magnificent palace.

Midday:

  • Castel Nuovo: A symbol of Naples, known for its massive towers and views of the port.
  • Lunch: Choose one of the many trattorias to try authentic Neapolitan pizza. For example, "Da Michele" is considered one of the best in the city.

Afternoon:

  • National Archaeological Museum of Naples: Learn about the rich archaeological history of the region, including collections from Pompeii and Herculaneum.

Evening:

  • Walk through the Spaccanapoli district: Explore this narrow, long avenue in the historical center, where you'll find many shops, churches, and cafes.
  • Dinner: Stop at a restaurant to try Neapolitan specialties such as seafood pasta or fresh cheeses.

Day 2: Nature and Surroundings

Morning:

  • Trip to Pompeii: Spend the morning visiting this unique archaeological site. You can reach Pompeii from Naples by the Circumvesuviana suburban train.

Midday:

  • Return to Naples and lunch: Enjoy a light lunch, maybe with fresh seafood on the waterfront or a traditional Neapolitan panini.

Afternoon:

  • Hike up Mount Vesuvius: If you're interested in active leisure and stunning views, hike up Mount Vesuvius. You can join organized tours.

Evening:

  • Visit Castel dell'Ovo: This castle is located on the Megaride Island and offers magnificent views of the city and the bay.
  • Final dinner: Spend the evening at one of the restaurants on the waterfront, enjoying local dishes and the sea view.

Don't forget to leave some time for leisurely strolls to soak up the city's atmosphere and, of course, try the famous Neapolitan gelato at one of the street cafes. Hope you have a great time in Naples!
