Santiago de Compostela, the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia in Spain, is a well-known pilgrimage center and cultural city with a rich history. Here is a rough plan for three days:

Day 1: Historic Center and Cathedral Morning:

  • Santiago de Compostela Cathedral: Start your day with a visit to the Cathedral, the main symbol of the city and the endpoint of the Way of St. James. Explore the façade of Obradoiro, the treasury, and the cathedral museum.
  • Obradoiro Square (Praza do Obradoiro): In this central square of the city, you will also see the University's Rectorate and the Raxoi Palace (Pazo de Raxoi).

Day:

  • Alameda Park: Take a stroll through this charming park with magnificent views of the cityscape and the Cathedral.
  • San Martín Pinario Monastery: Visit this impressive monastery, the second largest in Spain.

Evening:

  • Explore the old town streets of Rúa do Franco and Rúa da Raíña, where you can enjoy dinner with traditional Galician dishes like octopus "pulpo a la gallega."

Day 2: Culture and Art Morning:

  • Galicia Museum (Museo das Peregrinacións e de Santiago): This museum offers an understanding of the history of pilgrimage and the region's culture.
  • Church of Santa María Salomé: Visit this small church with beautiful interiors and a unique atmosphere.

Day:

  • Galicia's Bridge (Ciudad de la Cultura de Galicia): A modern cultural complex where you can explore museums, libraries, and art exhibitions.
  • Galician Center for Contemporary Art (CGAC): Explore the collection of contemporary art in this stylish building.

Evening:

  • Dinner at one of the seafood restaurants that Galician cuisine is famous for.

Day 3: Surroundings and Nature Morning:

  • Monte do Gozo: Visit this place where pilgrims first see the cathedral towers. Enjoy the beautiful views of the surroundings.

Day:

  • Visit nearby resort towns: If you have a car, venture outside the city to explore nearby towns like Noia or Padrón, enjoying the nature and tranquility.

Evening:

  • Return to Santiago and stroll through the evening city, enjoying the atmosphere of the ancient streets and ending your trip with dinner at a traditional tavern (Tasca or Meson).

This itinerary offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history, culture, and nature of Santiago de Compostela and its surroundings.
