Segovia Day Trip Guide

Segovia is a charming city in the autonomous community of Castile and León in Spain. It is famous for its beautiful historic center, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. If you only have one day to explore Segovia, here is the optimal itinerary:

Morning:

  1. Segovia Aqueduct Start your day by visiting one of Segovia's most famous monuments - the ancient Roman aqueduct. This impressive engineering feat, built without cement, still towers over the city. Take a stroll in Azoguejo Square to take some great photos.

  2. Segovia Cathedral Head to the cathedral, known as the "Lady of Cathedrals" for its elegance and Gothic architecture. Located in the main square of the city, it is the last Gothic cathedral built in Spain.

Day:

  1. Alcázar of Segovia Visit the fairytale castle, which inspired Cinderella's Castle in Disneyland. The castle is located on a high hill and offers breathtaking views of the surroundings. Don't forget to climb the Juan II tower for a panoramic view of the entire city.

  2. Lunch at a Local Restaurant Relax and enjoy traditional Castilian cuisine. Try the famous "cochinillo asado" (roast suckling pig) at one of the local restaurants such as "Mesón de Cándido" or "José María".

Afternoon:

  1. Plaza Mayor Take a stroll in the main square - Plaza Mayor. This bustling place is where locals and tourists enjoy the city's atmosphere, with many cafes and shops.

  2. Monastery of San Antonio el Real Visit the monastery, founded in the 15th century. It is known for its beautiful ceiling ornaments and peaceful atmosphere.

Evening:

  1. Walk through the Jewish Quarter Explore the old Jewish quarter, its narrow streets, and historical buildings. Learn about the history of the Jewish community in Segovia.

  2. Dinner End the day with dinner at a restaurant overlooking the aqueduct or in a cozy tavern in the city center.

Segovia is a compact city, so you can see a lot in one day. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a camera to capture memories of this wonderful city!
