Antwerp 2-Day Guide

A tourist guide to Antwerp for 2 days.

Day 1:

Morning:

  1. Antwerpen-Centraal Train Station: Start your journey at one of the most beautiful train stations in the world. Don't forget to admire the architecture of the building and the underground levels.

  2. Antwerp Zoo: Located next to the train station, the zoo is one of the oldest in the world and offers many interesting exhibits.

Day:

  1. Grote Markt Square: Take a stroll through the central square surrounded by historic buildings. Here you will find the city hall and the Brabo statue.

  2. Cathedral of Our Lady: One of the largest Gothic cathedrals in Europe, housing several works by Rubens.

Evening:

  1. Dinner in the historic center: Enjoy local cuisine in one of the restaurants on Grote Markt or its surroundings. Try the Flemish stew or mussels.

  2. Theater and arts: Attend a theatrical performance or visit one of the many bars with live music.

Day 2:

Morning:

  1. MAS - Museum aan de Stroom: The museum tells the history of the city and its connections to the world. The top floor offers a stunning view of the city.

  2. Port of Antwerp: Walk along the river port or take a tour of its premises. It is one of the largest ports in Europe.

Day:

  1. Rubenshuis: The house where the famous artist Peter Paul Rubens lived and worked. You will see his works and objects from that time.

  2. Meir Street: Take a walk along this street, the main shopping artery of Antwerp. There are plenty of shops and cafes.

Evening:

  1. Red Light District and Saint Andrew's District: While the Red Light District is famous for its adult entertainment, there are also interesting boutiques and bars here.

  2. Try local beer: Antwerp is famous for its breweries. In a bar or cafe in the city center, try one of the local varieties, such as De Koninck.

Additional Tips:

  • Transportation: Antwerp is easy to explore on foot or by bike. Public buses and trams are also available.
  • Languages: The main languages are Dutch and French, but many also speak English.
  • Weather: Antwerp can be rainy, so bring an umbrella or raincoat.
