Düsseldorf 2-day travel guide

Dusseldorf is a city in Germany known for its culture, architecture, and lively atmosphere. In this tourist guide, I will offer you a two-day itinerary with the main attractions and places worth visiting.

Day 1: Exploring the culture and history of Dusseldorf

Morning:

  • Altstadt (Old Town): Start your day with a walk through the old town, featuring narrow streets with numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. Visit Burgplatz square and enjoy the view of the Rhine River.
  • Rathaus (Town Hall): Next to Burgplatz is the old town hall from the 17th century, a beautiful building with interesting architecture worth seeing.
  • St. Andreas Church: One of the most beautiful Baroque churches in the city, known for its interior and organ.

Day:

  • Schlossturm: The only remaining structure of Dusseldorf Castle, housing a maritime museum with a magnificent view of the city and the Rhine River from the top.
  • Rhine Promenade: Walk along the Rhine River, enjoy the beautiful views, and perhaps take a break at one of the cafes overlooking the water.

Evening:

  • Carlsplatz Market: A great place for dinner to try traditional local dishes, fresh vegetables, and fruits.
  • Königsallee: A luxurious shopping street with boutiques and fashionable stores. In the evenings, the street is beautifully lit, creating a special atmosphere.

Day 2: Modern art and science

Morning:

  • North Rhine-Westphalia Landtag: The parliament building right on the banks of the Rhine, where you can admire the architecture and learn more about the political life of the region.
  • MedienHafen: A district known for its modern architectural designs and famous buildings like Frank Gehry's office building.

Day:

  • K21 - Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen: A museum of modern art with interesting exhibitions and installations.
  • Schloss Benrath: As an option for after lunch, visit this beautiful 18th-century palace with magnificent gardens and a museum.

Evening:

  • Japanese Garden in Nordpark: A beautiful spot for an evening stroll or a picnic.
  • Rhineturm: End your day at the Rhine Tower. Take the elevator to the observation deck to enjoy the view of nighttime Dusseldorf. There is also a restaurant where you can have a delicious dinner.

I hope this plan helps you make the most of your two-day stay in Dusseldorf! Safe travels!
