Guide to the beautiful city of Nantes for three days.
Day 1: Historic Center and Castle
- Morning: Start your day by visiting the Castle of the Dukes of Brittany. It is an impressive fortress which also houses the historical museum of Nantes. Take a walk along the fortress wall for a view of the city.
- Then head to the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, which is nearby. This Gothic cathedral has a rich history and beautiful interior decorations.
- Day: Have lunch at one of the many restaurants in the old town area.
- Take a stroll through the Bouffay Quarter, known for its narrow streets and medieval architecture. Here you will find many charming cafes and shops.
- Evening: Visit the Place Graslin and enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants. You can also admire the famous Graslin theater from the outside.
Day 2: Art and Machines on the Island
- Morning: Start your day at the Nantes Museum of Arts, which has a rich collection of artworks from the Renaissance to modern times.
- Day: After lunch, head to the Machines of the Isle on the old shipyards. Here you can see unusual mechanical structures, including the famous Great Elephant. Don't forget to take a ride on this giant wooden animal!
- Evening: Choose one of the restaurants on the Loire River waterfront for dinner. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll and to admire the evening views of the river.
Day 3: Nature and Modern
- Morning: Visit the Japanese Garden of Ile-de-Versailles, a green oasis in the city center. It's a great place for a morning walk and relaxation.
- Day: Head to the modern district of Erdre and visit La Fabrique, where you can appreciate modern architecture and exhibitions.
- Evening: End your trip at the Passage Pommeraye, a historic shopping passage with beautiful glass domes. Here you will find unique shops and cafes to enjoy your last evening in Nantes.
