Guide to Zakopane for 2 days

Zakopane is a picturesque town in southern Poland, located at the foot of the Tatra Mountains, ideal for a short break. Here is an example of a two-day sightseeing plan.

Day 1: Discovering Zakopane

Morning

  • Krupowki: Start the day with a walk along Zakopane's main street - Krupowki. Here you will find plenty of souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants. It's a great place to soak up the city's atmosphere.
  • Market Hall and Folk Crafts: Visit the market on Krupowki to see and purchase products from local craftsmen, including woolen goods and highland souvenirs.

Day

  • Ride to Gubalowka: Take the funicular up to Gubalowka to enjoy breathtaking views of the Tatras and Zakopane. Here you can have coffee at one of the cafes at the top and simply admire the nature.
  • Lunch: Have lunch at a traditional highland restaurant and try local dishes such as oscypek (smoked cheese) and bigos.

Evening

  • Zakopane Aqueduct and Wooden Churches: Back in town, visit one of the famous wooden churches, such as the Church of Jaszczurówka.
  • Dinner and Evening Stroll: Have dinner at one of the restaurants on Krupowki or in the old part of town, followed by a leisurely evening stroll before bed.

Day 2: Nature and Active Recreation

Morning

  • Kasprowy Wierch: If you enjoy active recreation, take a trip to Kasprowy Wierch by cable car. It's one of the best places for mountain hiking.

Day

  • Morskie Oko: Visit one of the most famous and beautiful places in the Tatras - Morskie Oko Lake. The walk there is not the shortest, but the views are worth every step.

Evening

  • Return and Relax at the Thermal Baths: On your way back to Zakopane, relax at one of the local thermal baths. It's a perfect way to end an active day.
  • Final Dinner: Finish your trip at a cozy restaurant, enjoying local cuisine and live music often played at Zakopane establishments.

Tips:

  • Footwear and Clothing: Dress according to the weather conditions and wear comfortable shoes for mountain walks.
  • Transport: Zakopane is compact enough that most places can be explored on foot or by using local buses and taxis.

I hope this plan helps you have an enjoyable time in Zakopane!
